A Need
I suspect that the solution I'm imagining to a problem I've had for years has already been achieved. So let me know if it has. Here's what I want: a mobile phone with a programmable ringer so that you can prevent late or excessively early calls from disturbing you, but still get the calls you D0 want once you are ready to be awake. Does the iPhone have this option? The Android? The Pre? Because my Blackberry doesn't seem to provide me the option.

Thanks! Have you used either one of these apps or do you know someone who has?

I don't know about individual phones, but Google Voice allows this.

I still don't really understand what Google Voice is. What are its best features, in your estimation?

I don't have the slightest idea what Google Voice's best features are, which probably tells you something about the damn thing. I resist telling everyone to quit calling the number I've had for years just so I can have a different number in the future.

I can tell you that my Pre doesn't alert me to text messages, tweets, and the like, before I tell it to (I choose 11:00), but that's not exactly what you need.

Think outside the box, here. My last three phones have had an automatic wake up function, where I turn them off (all the way) but set them to wake up (with or without alarm) at a certain time. When it's off, it's off, and you getno calls or texts. Then, you can once it's on.

Huh. I wonder if my phone has that. It should, being a Blackberry and all. But I still don't fully understand all the things it does.
