That's on the trail you and Daniel took with us a few years back. It's so close to home, yet so gorgeous.

ah that would be the OMG HORSE POO! trail :)

Yes!!! There wasn't any poo this time, though, which seemed weird.

There are no color corrections or photoshoppery of any kind?

They call a picture a "capture" on flickr. I find that to be really pretentious, but this picture is really a capture. Yes, this is really how beautiful Tucson is for five minutes a day (in the right place).

Totally. It really is that grand.

No, there's no photoshoppery. That said, on the sequence of images from which this drawn the absurdity of my refusal to use Photoshop was rendered obvious, since the color balance shifted wildly from image to image depending on where the focal plane was.

When you see an atmosphere like this, it is easy to understand why the impressionists and even scientists of the 19th century had the concept of ether. It really seems alive. It seems other worldly and unnatural.

Oh, but it's nice to think about how it strikes you subconsciously! I get so used to being here it's good to be reminded of just how strange the landscape looks to those who are strangers to these parts.
