That is the precise soundtrack I had in my head when I went through similar ups and downs with my grandparents. There was a period of weeks when all I could bear to listen to was _The Hot Rock_. It just seemed so very perfect, sounded so much like the inside of my brain and my body. It was as if the album and especially that song could manage to draw a bit of the tension out of me and out of the rooms and the images of the rooms by redoubling that tension and giving it new manifestation. I didn't fully understand it then and I don't really understand it now. But in those weeks I could bear the sound of nothing else. I feel you, Charlie. Stay strong.

I'm glad we shared that. The song is a metaphor for a decaying relationship -- theirs, I imagine -- but still seems to apply well to a more literally medical setting.
