The Heat Unfolds Its Beauty
It has been a month since I posted a photo here, the longest gap by far since I first began using LJ, back before I got my digital camera in late January, 2004. I wanted to share this because seeing the roses blooming despite the brutal June heat here in Tucson brightens my spirits and because I need to get out of the frame of mind that would have me only post when I can compensate for my absence by something grandiose and no doubt tedious to others.

Finally figured out how to view your alt tags easily. :P

Probably around the exact time you were posting this, R and I were talking about you. (Prompted by something reminding me of Charlie Brown, I said, "I wonder if other kids called him Charlie Brown when he was growing up. You know, Charlie B., Charlie Brown ..." Then we talked about how kids can be total assholes. Though for all I know no one teased you mercilessly with that particular appellation.)

Yes, it just takes replying! I like the idea of writing under a veil in that way.

Actually, though kids did sometimes call me that, I never took it as a negative. Peanuts was so popular. And the 70s Charlie Brown was less star-crossed than previous iterations. By the 80s, he was winning games!

My most common nickname, which was kind of teasing without being offensive, was "Birch Beer", since the part of Pennsylvania I lived in was one of those places where that was a favored soda.
