It Begins

My daughter left for Las Vegas with friends this afternoon and is headed to France on the 17th for a semester abroad. Her mother is downtown at her new studio, where she will probably fall asleep on what used to be our sofa. I said goodnight to my father earlier than usual. And here I am, home alone, not feeling at home, confronted with the prospect of figuring out what to do with the rest of my life. The first step is to get back in tough with myself by writing.
