This is for you elizabeg:

Sounds like the Cronies' Republic of Marana is still getting a heavy dose out towards the Pinal County line.

Aw how sweet :) I miss thunder!

I still, however, staunchly defend the position that my parents' house, to my knowledge, has been pretty much systematically rejected by Marana incorporation efforts. There have been no inbred cows grazing in my front (I would say lawn but this is Tucson) gravel thankyouverymuch.

I didn't mean inbred cows as a euphemism but I suppose if it fits...well perhaps there are Freudian slips of the fingertips or some equivalent.

And I'm not sure, incidentally, what it says if even Marana won't annex you. I hear the school district is up in arms again. Sigh.

That which resists incorporation could be redescribed as the abject, no?

Maybe Oro Valley will step into the breach, as they did for us. We now live in the "Slums of Oro Valley!"

Thanks for the kind thoughts on The Believer. I'm struggling to get up to speed after our trip and Kim's conference. Someday I'll make it to the present. . .

Re: Maranated

But look we can have real-time, present-ish, nearly-live conversations via LJ.

Maranated. I like that.

Yes, you can call it the abject. You can call it a variation on more than one of my term paper topics. Or maybe constitutive excess. That's what I'm thinking of thinking of it as these days.

Last spring LZ would have simply called it goo. Somehow that seems just as satisfying :)
