Third Wind

I was totally exhausted an hour ago. Figured I'd do the rest in the morning. Now I'm still up, getting closer to finishing but still far away.

Every time I go on a trip, especially a plane trip, it's like this.

It's like a mini-version of the flood of adrenaline I felt immediately after the 1989 Loma Prieta quake.

Is the body getting ready for possible stress?

We're about to drive to Phoenix for the flight. I'm not sure how easy it will be to post using my parents' dial-up connection, so this may be the last you hear from me and kdotdammit for a while.

We still feel pretty awful, but Skylar is in good spirits.

The impressive thing is that I'm packed 45 minutes before departure time. That's a first!

Reading material for the trip: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, 100 Years of Solitude, Jacques Derrida, Archive Fever, and the manual for my Canon ZR45 mini-DV camcorder.

In Honor of the Bean

I'm breaking with precedent for the duration of my trip to use a photograph of my face, because it was taken by my daughter last spring.
