Mustafa Shakur currently leads the Wildcats in their contest with UCLA with 16 points. He has made some spectacular plays. Yet he remains one of the worst "star" players I've ever seen at his position. Although he has the speed to play great defense, he somehow always seems to slack off his man at the worst possible juncture. He makes lazy passes. He consistently makes the wrong decision in transition. And he does a terrible job of managing the clock in the closing minutes. Perhaps, in my writing this now, I will, through the logic of the reverse jinx, get him to do something befitting his talent at the conclusion of today's game. But I doubt it.
