Low High

It looks like the low temperatures over the next week here will be in the 30s, with one or two nights dropping below freezing. And that makes me extremely happy, despite the fact that it means I'll need to blanket the basil with several layers. I know some of you living in chillier climes would welcome warm weather at this time of year, but I don't feel properly festive unless I can go outside in the dark and shiver. Plus, the daily highs are supposed to be in the low 60s, which means wearing the "goat sweater" -- an expensive fisherman's-knit cashmere I picked up at Marshall's last year for a ridiculously low price -- will continue to be a viable clothing option. I only discovered the pleasures of the goat last winter, with a slimmer black cashmere I got in late November, but I am, as I've been telling anyone who will listen, completely sold on its virtues vis-a-vis the sheep. It keeps you warmer when it's cold, but takes longer to make you feel hot when it's not. Not to mention that it gives me little prickles of randiness without inspiring a flurry of sneezes. I'm not opposed to displacement per se, but I prefer to keep my tumescence localized in those parts most likely to lead to true bliss.
