All Out of Juice (But It Sure Tasted Sweet!)

Tonight's Cal defeat, which I expected, since USC had to win and was playing in L.A., has receded into what feels like the distant past because I just finished watching my father's alma mater Syracuse defeat Final Four-favorite Connecticut in the six -- that's right, six -- overtimes to advance to the semifinals of the Big East tournament. The most amazing thing was watching the Orange find a little something extra in the tank in the last overtime, even though they were undermanned at the start of the game. Their point guard Jonny Flynn was the proverbial Man among men, repeatedly driving right at 7'3" Huskies center Hasheem Thabeet in regulation and the early overtimes, then doing a remarkable job of dribbling out of trouble as the game wore down to a close. If you ever get a chance to watch this one on ESPN Classic, do so.
