Does Collecting Make You Feel Dirty?
Participatory Domesticity
Every year it seems that the end-of-semester furor makes me too busy and stressed out to participate fully in our family's holiday festivities. This time, though, I'm trying to change that. I just sat with Kim doing the Christmas card addressing and stamping. I spent a lot of time on our co-authored holiday letter. And I helped substantively with the tree-decorating for the first time since we lived in California. It's making me happy.

Our tree, by the way, is superb. Bean picked the perfect size and shape noble fir. With all three of us hanging ornaments, it's just packed with pleasure:

I could stare at it for hours. Last night, I did. Time for pannettone!

Mode: crossing
Muse: Batti, Batti, O Bel Masetto - Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus And Bartoli, Cecilia - Cecilia Bartoli -

That's another great shot. I wonder how varied a series of close-ups of the same tree could get.

You may find out, my friend! Thanks for getting the LJ identity. Makes life simpler. And it's nice to have you in the fold.
