Oof. I have had moderately consistently poor luck with Badyear Goodyear tires. Not that every Goodyear I've ever had has been junk, but it's been impossible to get a consistently good tire out of them IME.

Do you have Discount Tire Company in AZ? (clickety click, looks like you do) I have had very good service from them in...ummmm...six states over the years. You may want to swing by there and check their price on the BFGs.

And if that doesn't work, try Costco if you have a membership, or http://www.tirerack.com - my Passat tires ran me something like $65 a pop, and they've survived a few Seattle winters, even...

There is Costco, for sure. I tend to be a little skittish about buying tires there any more; I had one experience where the name-brand tires I got for such a screamin'-deal price deteriorated so oddly and quickly that they could only have been factory seconds. In the meantime, I've heard enough echoes of that same experience that I think I've probably figured out how Costco can sell for $47 a tire that everyone else sells for $77. I can't really blame them; they're not really doing anything illegal, and most people don't require a lot of their tires.
