Sofa - De File
Does Collecting Make You Feel Dirty?
Recently, Bean has been migrating to the sofa when she wakes up in the middle of the night rather than wake us up. It's a practice that both her mom and I have indulged in during bouts of insomnia or, in my case, coughing. So there's ample precedent for the move.

Maybe she's hot. Maybe she needs to have her head at a different angle. Maybe it's the moans and mews of our cats. Maybe she just needs a change of place. We'd generally prefer that she go back to bed, of course, since it's an artificially darkened environment. But when she sleeps as well on the sofa as she has been this morning -- I spotted her when I got up to use the bathroom at 6am and she's still fast asleep -- she actually gets more rest than she would in her room, from which Thing One would surely have extracted her by now. And Thing Two gets to express the special sofa love that reminds us of his unique feline talents.

Isn't he the cutest companion? Smokey may rank number one in Bean's list of cats now, but Thing Two has shown plenty of staying power.

Maybe I'll take a nap on the sofa later in search of the same furry succor.

Besides the obvious beauty of people sleeping peacefully, I'm really loving the look on the cat's face. You can just tell he really loves her and he's loving the quiet time. Big beautiful eyes.

He's a real sweetie. Not the brightest bonfire in the Black Forest, certainly, but with a heart of gold. And at least he doesn't drag Kim's underwear around the house like a certain brother of his!

"Maybe I'll take a nap on the sofa later in search of the same furry succor." That gave me a good laugh... My mother hated me taking pics of her while she was asleep but, I like how the face muscles relax and allows a person to be more natural. Of course, I'm not talking about sleeping mouth agape and probably drooling... When she gets older she's gonna get you for that aspect. *wink* Nice kitty, kitty.

her position & open mouth are so trusting, the feeling of safety given by that image is striking.

Absolutely. I just wish the open mouth didn't remind her of horribly swollen and likely-to-be-removed-soon tonsils. She's had a rough go of it lately from the respiratory standpoint. That's part of the reason she keeps waking up in the middle of the night and migrating to the sofa, where she sleeps at a different angle and is more or less forced to stay canted.
