Does Collecting Make You Feel Dirty?
My next entry will be devoted to an extended recap of my experience at this year's Modern Language Association convention in San Diego.

I was leaning in the direction of another Lord of the Rings post, but popular demand for salacious content has prompted me to defer it indefinitely.

Please remember, as you read my long, long entry: you were almost certainly having more fun, wherever you were, than 95% of the 8000+ people at the MLA were having last week.

The days of coke spoons, group sex, and even of Andrew Ross's salmon-colored suit have headed for the Gray Havens along with Elrond and Company.

The new age is here. And it's the age of fear.

I think I heard that the last time the MLA was down and out fun was when Joel Canaro was still President and the convention decided never to return to New Orleans again.

I know that the last time I had fun there was before I was job hunting, or maybe it was after I'd given up job hunting and was just scamming on the book sales.

I vote for RotK comments myself.

I got my coke-spoon out in anticipation of this entry, but was forced to put it away in shame.

An old Kim Dot Dammit proverb: That which is promised to be blogged next never blogs.

I have tested this hypothesis through a series of clinical trials on my own blog and have proven it true.
