Tonight I finally extracted the yellowed, cracked, intractable anti-static mat from my home office and moved a newer one into the place it had occupied. I've been meaning to do this for a year and a half, since the old mat stopped making it easier for the wheels on my desk chair to roll. But moving it required lifting the computer desk, removing all the books from a large bookshelf, vacuuming underneath everything -- suffice it to say that it wasn't a task I was looking forward to. Now that it's done, though, I'm suffused with waves of self-adoration. Couple that with the thrill of having now organized three file drawers at my U of A office in the past two weeks and I'm feeling like someone who is either a go-getter or has succumbed to the lure of crank. Next on my list: cleaning up the various hard drives in the house. I'm shooting for 2008.
