Seven Songs
Since kdotdammit tagged me, I'll go along with the meme of the moment. Here are seven songs that have been rocking my world lately:
• Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - "Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood"
• The Rolling Stones - "Happy"
• Sufjan Stevens - "Casimir Pulaski Day"
• Nick Heyward- "Kite"
• The New Pornographers - "Sing Me Spanish Techno"
• McFadden and Whitehead - "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now (We're On the Move)"
• The Kinks - "Waterloo Sunset"
And now it's my turn to tag. I hereby interpellate masoo, _luaineach, elaine4queen, art_thirst, tpratt, deoirfola, and amnesiascope. Don't feel obligated, but I'd love to hear your lists.

Mode: busy
Muse: Amphetamine - Rocket From The Tombs - The Day the Earth Met the... Rocket From the Tombs

Having experienced an interpellation of my own as Blossom Dearie taunted from the family stereo tonight, "Why don't you join the group, it's better than being a party poop", but as an interloper nonetheless, I humbly offer up the following:

"Portions For Foxes" - Rilo Kiley
"Decatur" - Sufjan Stevens
"Revelation" - Jason Falkner
"Talk To Me Of Mendocino" - Kate McGarrigle With Rufus And Martha Wainright
"Hard Times Come Again No More" - Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Mark O'Connor With James Taylor
"Simple Gifts" - Yo-Yo Ma With Alison Kraus
"The World Upside Down" - Glenn Branca

spoon - the way we get by
colourbox - just give 'em whiskey
butthole surfers - summer in the city
jah wobble - i love everybody
they might be giants - robot parade
the cure - young americans
rammstein - amerika

i have been making a cd compilation recently on the theme, well it started off being about cities in general, and ended up being about citynoise.org
these are all tracks that i included and have been particularly enjoying as i have played it over and over and over and over. some early favourites got dumped because hearing them constantly became very annoying. rammstein made it right from the word go, they are very funny. the cure was a fab late discovery, i like it so much better than the original, colourbox was a surprising rediscovery, i would have thought they would have aged badly, but this track really stood up well. now i have finished the cd i am probly gonna hear a million things i wish i had been able to put in, but at least now i *can* listen to some other music...

I was just listenting to that 4AD sampler recently and was also surprised that Colourbox had aged better than I had imagined it might. That Cure version is good. But I like most Cure songs. I'm not a huge Spoon fan, but like that particular song a lot. Thanks for participating!

Re: ask and ye shall receive

Thanks! I think I'm going to make a sampler of all the replies. If I can track down the songs, that is.
