Winter in Watercolours
I didn't try to document yesterday's party but the sunset was too good to ignore:

I never get tired of that view, even though it's only ten paces from our front door.

ARRRGH! This is so beautiful it hurts to look at, particularly compared with our oppressively dark greyness.

While I would dearly like some moisture and a little winter chill, I have to admit that the extensive sun here does my psyche well. If only my lungs would stop arguing with my head!

Well, we have skies like that but a lot less in the way of cultural offerings. Not to mention that Tucson is crawling with what the Germans scornfully refer to as, "Amis." Have you read David Lodge's book Changing Places? It's about a professor from the North of England who spends a year in Berkeley while his Berkeley counterpart teaches in the UK. Hilarious. And a good engagement with the "other side of the grass is greener" phenomenon.

"Ami" is derogatory slang for "American" in German.

chronic health problems are a pain in the ass, man. they can really get you down. i've been dealing with carpal tunnel (or rather something else that produces similar symptoms) and acid reflux for years. shit sucks. (thank god for chinese medicine)

It's pretty new to me. I had asthma and allergies before, but nothing like this. Maybe I'm just going crazy. But I still think it's the climate here.

I especially like that patch above the horizon on the far right, the one where there's a pink sliver surrounded by a creamy white.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, BTW. You deserve better luck!

oh, things aren't going so badly, Charlie, other than having no money. *shrug*

I miss you guys. I miss that sun.
