No matter how many times I repeat the experience, it still perplexes me that spending more hours of the day awake doesn't translate to getting more done. And I'm even more baffled by the realization that devoting an hour or two to relaxing activities that have nothing to do with the work I'm doing make me more productive than working straight through. I guess I'm still an American manager at heart, convinced that productivity should be measured in hours not free -- "Look, I'm not having fun!" -- instead of hours in which I actually actually accomplish something that won't seem meaningless a month later.
