Photo of the year awesome.

I'm not sure about that. . . but I'll sure take the compliment! I love reflections. I wanted something both photo-realist and Edward Hopper-esque. I couldn't get the sky as dark as I wanted, but I'm still happy with the results, all in all.

You remain, of course, one of my crucial photographic inspirations.

i agree with chrisglass.

one of my cousins lives in baltimore... not sure which part. and my aunt lives in frederick. i like maryland, aside from the claustrophobic feeling i get from their incessantly tree-lined highways.

I know what you mean about that claustrophobia, though now I find it a welcome change of pace after all the wide-openness of the Southwest. Plus, I miss green.

Thanks for liking the photo. I wish the color were a little better, with less gray-brown in the wall-projected-on-sky, but I do like that point-perspective effect and the emptiness of the mirror's reflection.

Now if I could only work on our Passats too, we might actually save up enough money to come visit Canada!

*homesickness*

For some reason, the tiny-seeming clock tower in the distance is what gets to me right now. I can't explain it, really. That parking lot right there, in the front? I used to park there for work when I had to go right after classes.

I don't want to move back to Baltimore, at least not right now, but I would love to be able to take a trip there. Maybe after massage school I can do a good, long MD trip to visit the city and my people in and around it.

I love the view from here, but I have mixed feelings about the location. Having seen Baltimore in the 1980s, when it was already Harbour Place-ized but still grittier around this part of the waterfront than it is today -- I mean, the Powerplant was an abandoned building I loved to photograph -- it just feels a little too much like a mall for me, like Times Square is now. Knowing how rough many of the patches in from the water are, I feel a little guilty feeling so safe. On the other hand, Skylar is having a blast and the water still smells like Baltimore.

I think the mall-like atmosphere is almost a necessary evil. Anyhow, if I hadn't been out of town myself and not reading lj, I would have tipped you off on some of my favorite non-touristy spots. Next time.

There's still time! Maybe I can check something out tomorrow.
