This is a beautiful landscape photo. It captures a kind of light I've never seen anywhere else. When the sky above is overcast, but the sun is shining through the atmosphere edge-wise sort of... and sunlight bounces off the bottom of the clouds. It happens in T-town all the time.

Re: awesome!

I'm glad you like it. I wish I'd had a camera with a bigger CCD and more megapixels so I could make a big 11x14" of the photo.

I adore that kind of light. You get something similar in the San Francisco Bay Area when the sun shines through the Golden Gate -- the straits, not the bridge over them, that is -- and lights things up from underneath. But the character of the landscape is quite different, so the effect is noticeably different.

I do miss the Monsoon. This high, dry wind is making me irritable.

Wow, that is nice, just what I love about the desert southwest.

It was taken at the tail end of our Monsoon from a little over two weeks ago. I miss the moisture already. Fiercely!

(And, as KDD said, we promise to fill you with good food and show you great hikes if you ever make it out this way.)

Oh Charlie, thanks for keeping me so in touch with Tucson's sere beauty. I love the lushness here, but miss the desert paring away the unnecessary.

I love that phrasing when you write, "the desert paring away the unnecessary." There is something about life here, once you get away from the strip malls, that does that. Heck, on a hot June day, even a trip across a strip-mall parking lot has the capacity to trim away all excess.

It's so hot that your body simply MUST relax.

Yes. And chips, salsa, and a beer go well with that state.
