I think the Democrats should ignore the Mark Foley scandal. Completely ignore it. There's no way to turn it into an advantage aside from not trying to turn it into an advantage.

Livejournal sucks right now. Let's see if I can comment.

I agree. It's like something out of Law and Order. It's not real.

Precisely. I smell a set up.

Foley's got himself is so deep he'll never get out. No need to try and do what the Republicans seem to be known for lately, attack when you've missed a step... all in the name of faux righteousness.

I agree. One of my worries is that the Republicans are holding a similar story about a Democrat. Or at least one they can spin as similar. They have a better sense of timing.

Of course, the Foley scandal itself shouldn't be a talking point at all. The conversation should be an entrenched Republican culture of corruption and a refusal to deal with the facts and serve the interests of all Americans, not a chosen few with "connections."

Did you know that Fox News has mistakenly run a banner (one of those things at the bottom of the TV screen) that identifies Foley as a Democrat, or that asks why Democrats "ignored" the e-mails?

I agree that Democrats shouldn't make this an issue, but I was amazed at the downright lying (and from what I hear these banners ran more than once).

Yeah, I saw that. Unreal. They'll stoop at nothing to show how "fair and balanced" they are. I guess it would have been biased to only call him a Republican!
