Vote often?

Just going for a little irony there. . . :-)

I do wonder, though, whether mail-in voters might not be able to sneak in and vote in person in some jurisdictions.

I didn't realize that was your spin at first. I wouldn't have put that past this administration.

Indeed. The phrase amused me, like a fake slogan you would have heard in a "commerical" on Saturday Night Live before it started to really suck. "Vote early. . . and often!"

With ol' George admitting that the war isn't THE BEST WAR LIKE EVER IN HISTORY the other day, I'm surprised Laura didn't just come out and say, "Hey, ya know what? Clinton proved that divided government works better. Jump ship, Charlie."

That'd be refreshing, wouldn't it?

The funny thing is how tepid the letter is. It's not a very ringing endorsement. "Vote Republican to save me grief from George," is the making message, at least as I read it.

Charlie, you're so special to have received a signed letter from Laura Bush. Wow...

It means so much to me that she and George think so appreciatively about the help I've provided them!

Is it just me or has Laura put on a few pounds?

I find the wording of this "letter" very strange. I doubt she had anything to do with it. But it's weirdly distant. It's almost like we're being asked to vote for George to make her life less stressful, not because he's right. Maybe that's the point. Karl Rove is trying to get the sympathy vote for Laura.

these crack me up--especially all that stuff about "your loyal support". are you actively looking for these messages on the net, or are they sent to your email? and if so, why? i can't imagine you encouraging the republican party to solicit you via email.

I actually signed up as a Republican campaign volunteer back in the summer of 2004. So far, no one has blown my cover. And I get riled up on a regular basis, which is good for my soul. This entry with Laura's message particularly amused me. It's pretty lukewarm, even though she obviously didn't write it.
