This is the first year I wasn't offered a ticket. But the Cal football team in on that night too -- Holiday Bowl -- so it may be a good thing. Besides, if my presence brought the 'Cats good luck, maybe my absence will benefit the Bears.

As for Oden, I agree that he's amazing. My point in a previous comment was that Hawes seems to have more range and a bigger repertoire of shots.

And if the Holiday Bowl stays true to form, it should be one of the best games of all the bowls. I lucked out and got tickets from one of my students for Cal and Stanford, so I'll be attending my first bball games in more than a year.

Hawes was really incredible the other night offensively. He has great touch, a relatively quick release, nice form, post moves, the works. For all-around center game, though, I'd take Oden (even limited by injury) or Hansbrough. Hawes disappears for long stretches on the boards and on defense, and sometimes when he doesn't have the ball he seems a little stiff. Luckily for UW, they have Brockman to pick up the slack. He's a beast.
