I'm Happy For Them, Too
Well, three days after the Wildcats couldn't get the defensive stops to beat USC at home, the Sun Devils managed to rule out the possibility of a winless Pac-10 season by beating the Trojans in Tempe. Despite the fact that Herb Sendek's North Carolina State Wolfpack team knocked my Cal Bears out of the NCAA tournament last year, I still have a soft spot for him. He always seems winningly beleagured, like a college version of Jeff Van Gundy. It's nice for him to finally get a meaningful win in his new job at ASU. What will the Arizona faithful say if the Sun Devils make it two in a row next week?

I don't know what the Arizona faithful will say, but I do know what I might say, and it may be something along the lines of a hooray and two hips.

At this rate, it might just happen!

UA's in trouble.

Sad: would you rather have Herb Sendek or Lute-Rosborough as your coach at this point?

That's a good question. Can I take Ben Howland? I love the way his teams do help defense.

I'll still take Lute, if only so I can continue to be a lifelong fan of the mildcats. High aspirations built up from drinking Hansen and Pascoe's Kool-Aid every year that are later dashed by reality. I keep repeating to myself "If they could just knock down shots and run, they'd be unstoppable." It's my mantra. Here's to another year of mediocrity. UA basketball is to its fans what ASU football is to its fans: Highly trumped-up beliefs in being national contenders only to realize we're minimally competitive.
But don't worry, I'm still going to they Bay in two weeks to visit your hallowed Haas Pavilion and cheer on the team I've followed since I could sing "Bear Down." Past history notwithstanding, I'll keep hoping that potential pines out to real play.
