I can't remember Day One being such a disappointment. At least Washington State and UCLA are compensating for Stanford's atrocious performance. Pac-10 pride is the only thing sustaining my interest, from a rooting perspective, since my father's Syracuse Orange were left out of the tournament to make room for, yes, Stanford. I have a hard time imagining them losing to the Cardinals as badly as the Cardinal did. Yes, both teams fielded an equal number of players. . .

Darn ...

My Cardinal sure didn't put up much of a fight. Guess it's back to rooting for Arizona, at least through tomorrow. Then ... I don't know, Wazzu?

Re: Darn ...

I do love the way the Cougars play. Sort of like Mike Montgomery's old Cardinal teams before they became staples in the Top 25.

Charlie, Charlie, Charlie ... how many times do we have to go over this? You can't root for Stanfurd. Don't tell me it's good for the conference ... the tournament has begun, Stanfurd winning or losing has nothing to do with Cal's chances next year. If you're gonna call them "My Bears," you have to embrace the Bear: "Stanfurd's atrocious performance" is a phrase that should fill you with delight!

I don't mind. But I actually do think that the performance of every Pac-10 representative matters for next year. It's only for the sake of the Bears, you see, that I pull for the Cardinal on occasion. Wait. I sound like the Grand Inquistor. . .
