Oh, Charlie, that is so evocative of southeastern AZ... how lovely. Makes me miss the desert.

I'd never made that drive before today. Lovely. Like the Sonoita Road, but even lonelier. And more fun to navigate in a car that likes curves.

Good luck with the supervisorial saga, BTW. I shudder when I read your entries about the trials and tribulations at the kitchen.

Oh, and I'll be in Portland, briefly, next month. Maybe I can see you.

I love Santa Cruz County. I could ive in Patagonia, no problem.

As for the kitchen, *shrug* I love the craziness. I just wish the kids weren't so flaky sometimes.

I'd love to see you if that's possible.

Kids will be kids. . .

I'll let you know. My conference presentation is on Thursday, 4/19, I believe. My plan is to drive down from Seattle -- I have a conference there right after the one in Portland -- on Wednesday and stay in Portland Wednesday night.

Your new profile photo fills me with dread. It is too "I just stopped mid-sentence in the writing of my biography of Thomas Pynchon" to elicit comfort.
We must imbibe/eat again. I realize you are a pillar of domesticity and responsibility, but you and Kim must feel the need to cut it loose sometimes, and a future sometime ought to be with Dr. Whitaker. Your pre-Malkmus-show assessment: "I like people who are misguided and confused--like you, Will," is just not enough. You need to expand that statement for me.
Also, I would like to discuss with you my fear that the Pac 10 shall surpass the Big East in prestige within two years. I feel this is a legitimate concern, and I must address it with someone who is pan-conference savvy--of which there are not many in Tucson.

Fear is healthy, my friend! Seriously, I've lost my contact info for you, so you'll have to send me an e-mail with the relevant data so something can be arranged. I miss your wit and inner-worldly wisdom. I'm my LJ user name before the "at" sign and the usual Gmail after it.
