Corny - De File
Does Collecting Make You Feel Dirty?
I had two ears of astonishingly good corn tonight, the best I've ever had from a supermarket. The kernels were tight and utterly lacking in mealiness. And, boy, did that corn ever taste good with the thick ribeye that I rubbed in garlic, pepper and lemon juice and then seared over mesquite. Sometimes, I just need to eat like a Texan in order to feel restored. I'm sure I gained five pounds, but it was in a good cause. Besides, I plan to burn off all the excess weight after midnight on July 21st, when I will be stimulating myself into reading the final Harry Potter book cover to cover before venturing back outside the domestic sphere.

Oh my god, I had that same corn. Got it from Safeway. So good. And ... I've been very sick; it's the first food that hasn't caused any rumblings or nausea whatsoever. Even better. By the way, thanks for the birthday wish.

I wonder if corn is better here for some reason. Maybe they have to pick it younger to prevent its shriveling up or something. I'm pretty sure it was from within 100 miles of here. Wilcox?

Sorry you've been sick. Take care of yourself. You'll get better. It will get better.

The best corn on the cob I've ever had was fresh off the stalk and sweet and juicy bought from a roadside stand I believe, :-)

My parents have always grown it, so my standards are high!

In other news, I might want to ask you about Word Press sometime. I'm thinking of setting up a site. I've no intention of leaving LJ, but would like a venue for longer pieces and more permanent links.

I guess so! My dad is pretty intense about his garden, even now. The arrival of the corn crop must be planned carefully.

I remember when corn would come into season in Vermont and we'd go get the locally grown amazingly fresh stuff, man. I think I'm drooling.

This tasted like farmstand corn. And it was from Safeway!
