I've been thinking about turtles today.

If you ever have free time on a weekend, you should come over aroun 10:30am in the morning and stay a few hours. You'll get to see our shelled reptile friends!

She's just too cute. I love that look on her face. You always capture the variety of her expressiveness.

Isn't she adorable? She'd kill me if she knew I'd said that. But it's such a sweet image. I'm really surprised that I was able to get something that good on my first day with a digital camera. Even then, I felt freed by the fact that I didn't need to brace the lens or worry about focusing.

Re: They come out this time of year...

Ours have been out every day. That's a box turtle -- really a tortoise -- but I'm not sure what sub-species. The Sonoran desert tortoise has a flatter, unstriped shell.

I can't believe how different she looks. Because this photo dates from the period after she'd left her "difficult" phase -- 2003-2004 was a breeze compared to the previous three years -- I had mentally placed it in the category of "recent history." Also, it's one of the very first digital photos I took, which also makes me think of it as being on this side of a great divide. But the proof is in the pudding and, really studying this image for the first time in a long while, I'm stunned.

What a great pic! She's adorable. Aren't kids the best??? Mine is away for an overnight visit and I am missing her terribly.

Overnight visit? Wow. We're a long way from crossing that bridge. I'm sure Skylar would have someone stay here, but I doubt if she'll go anywhere else to sleep for a good while.

But, yes, kids are the best!
