Strange Bedfellow
Even though it may turn out to be to Cal's detriment down the road, I just focused all of my positive energy rooting for, dare I say it, Stanfurd. It's astonishing enough that the Cardinal won. That they sent USC to their first home loss in the Coliseum since 2001 boggles the mind. I mean, even some of the players seemed to be angling to find a "moral victory" in their almost inevitable defeat. This may already be the craziest year in college football history and we're not even out of October.

All right now ...

baby, it's alllllll right now. Let me tell you now.

If the Phillies couldn't do it, at least my Cardinal could. And without T.C. "Ich Bein Ein" Ostrander! Unbelievable.

Re: All right now ...

I'm depressed about the Phillies. I mean, when two Teams of Destiny collide, you never know what's going to happen. But it seems beyond cruel that they were vanquished by a combination heretofore unknown in the annals of baseball: Rockies + pitching.

As for the Cardinal, that was a hell of an ending. Like Pete Carroll, I just don't see how USC lost while practically quadrupling the Stanford yardage on offense, even with the turnovers. I watched with my own eyes, though, so I'll have to accept it as a self-witnessed miracle. Fourth and twenty, with a debutante quarterback?

Seriously. You know I know NOTHING about college football, but even I know enough to know Stanford shouldn't have beaten the Trojans. Even J knows that--he's a Stanford grad with no delusions. Not that we were really watching the game, mind you, since we have no cable and therefore no local tv. Pay per view was on at his cousin's house. Apparently the Filipino fighter who won last night is something of a national hero. But the replays and commentary for that Stanford/USC game were insane.

The thought of you watching college football news delights me.
