Something looks so bizarrely American Gothic about these photos. The lighting? The expressions? The slightly screwy perspective? They're awesome; some of my favorite ones yet (better even then the dancing mailbox, who, incidentally, was in my dream -- dancing -- the night I saw that pic!)!

You're absolutely right, though I couldn't put words to my feeling before you gave me yours. I love the looks being given in both shots, but they work better in tandem than singly. As for the American Gothic and screwy perspective, that's what happens when you're looking up from the foundations of a mid-18th century building built by German-speaking Czechs of a formerly persecuted Protestant sect. I mean, I think that's what happens, since it's what happened to me!

Thanks for saying you like the images. I'll always lap up praise for what I'm proud of myself and I'm pleased with my photographs, if I put them up here for LJ readers to see. But even better than praise is the notion that I'm contributing to the dreams of others, in whatever capacity.

The first looks a bit like Skylar's going to eat her cousin's head. Great shots. I love the lighting, the shadows and the hues the colors have in it.

Good call on that first one. They got along really well, for the most part, but are both strong-willed girls used to be the only one getting attention in their familial world. Skylar was a little jealous that I wasn't just snapping photos of her, I think. Glad you like them, too, of course. . . :-0
