Call Me Icarus
Seeing your hotel from the rental car return at Newark's Liberty International Airport, you might think, "I'd be better off walking than waiting for a shuttle that will have to course in silly circles for five miles in order to cover a mile as the starling flies." Yes, you might think that, but you would be wrong. So wrong, in fact, that memories of Fables of the Reconstruction would still be coursing in silly circles through your humbled head many hours later.

Ooh, best blinky colored text yet! I'm reading The Name of the Rose so it fits my mood perfectly.

I'm left wondering if the wrongness derives from some treacherousness of that one mile, or the impossible wonderfulness of the five.

The area around the airport is like a vast non-place. It makes the Sky Harbor neighborhood look homey, if you can believe that. And walking is barred by the absence of lights, crosswalks etc. Kind of creepy.
