Nothing Doing
I'm about to turn on Monday Night Football to watch the end of what has, based on the stats I've been following on the computer and what I saw of the first quarter at Frost earlier, one of the dullest games in a long while. So why am I going to watch? Because it's still a scoreless tie in the fourth quarter on a field that looks like a team of oxen on meth has been pulling a plough across it for hours. There's a charm to the absence of points, small as it may be.

Indeed... Classic Steelers Football. Truly their finest game all season. 3-0 is the ultimate football score!

They should have scored more, given the crispness of their passing game and Willie Parker's 81 yards. But it was pretty fun to watch that last drive and see all the fans still there.

Strange as it may seem, these are the kinds of games that people remember for long after. Like, if the Steelers get far in the playoffs this year, people will remember that game. 81 yards is nothing! I don't know... I didn't see the game, I don't have cable and I dread going to a bar to watch a game...

I want to see an oxen on meth, or even just a cow--some bovine creature. I'm going to write a grant proposal for this research project.

errr...by "oxen," i mean "ox." The prospect of the knowledge that such an experiment would endow me with made me manic, resulting in the grammatical mistake.

I liked it

I watched the whole game and actully loved it and normally I prefer offensive games. The rain erased the field and so for the first half it was more like a soccer game. By the time Jeff Reed attempted his first field goal try in the 3rd period (that was the 3rd period, right?) it was REALLY exciting. Plus, the mud meant that all sorts of modern NFL stuff just didn't work. It was very 1942. Way more retro than the retro uniforms.

Re: I liked it

I liked what I saw, too, though the Dolphins already-bad offense looked very bad indeed. I used to love playing make-believe football games during the spring thaw that made our Pennsylvania lawn look a lot like Heinz Field did Monday.
