I'm totally with you on that point. My scanner was only $120 or so when I got it eighteen months ago. Be careful if you do start scanning not to scan body parts, especially the face!

too late!

is it really dangerous? i have scanned lots of bits of my body but it is not as interesting as i thought it would be.

Sunburn is the biggest problem. And blindness, with the face.

hmm. i wonder how long you would have to do it for to get the sunburn? i can be a bit photosensitive. well, a lot.
my eyesight has gone to hell, but i don't think it was from scanning, i think it is the twin evils of ageing and prescription drugs.

It depends on the scanner. But the lamps are high-intensity. I think halogen bulbs are worse.

For my part, I remember getting a sunburn from a device used to make printing plates at work.
