*big smile* What a great photo of you, Charlie!

How fared the sweater?
cbertsch From: cbertsch Date: February 21st, 2008 01:59 am (UTC) (LINK TO SPECIFIC ENTRY)
Thanks!

It fared well. I dribbled no grits. And the sweater's multi-ply cashmere goodness kept me freezing to death in the damp 20 degree conditions prevailing here in Kentucky.

Dude, I second the cheese grits envy. What's that other stuff? Sweet potato strings? Green beans? Did you have shrimp with those grits? You're looking at me like I should already know, but I don't!

Green beens with bacon and a little vinegar. And some crunchy stuff, I'm not sure what, on top of bourbon-sauced pecan chicken. It's the South here. But a nice South. Louisville sure has produced some great music in the post-punk era. Oh, and the cheese grits are to be envied. They're easy to make, though.

Occupant of said sweater is looking well, and well-pleased by said confrontation.

Buono apetito.

Yes! I love getting away. And Louisville is a city I enjoy in particular. Not too big and not too small. Not too fast and not too slow. I mean, it's in the middle of the United States. So take my approval cum grano salis. But if you had to visit an American city, you could do much, much worse.

I love that LJ icon, BTW, although it reminds me of Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now.

Hey! That sweater rode around in my car for awhile and I do recall some sweater envy before the hand-off at the corner of O and C. Send it my regards.

It acquired a patina of Berkeley coolness from you (and your car). Really, I'm surprised you gave it back to me!

Why do I suddenly feel like I am your pet, and I have done something bad, but I did it cutely?

That's priceless! Travel safe, Charlie--

oh, you are so smart in your special sweater... ooooh, aaaah.

but really, what a quirky place you're choosing to dine at... the lamp, the globe light strand, the floating vines and slanted ceiling, oh my!

It's a great place to eat. Lynn's Paradise Café. Here's a photo of the dining room from my first trip there, back in 2006:

It's the sort of place Skylar would simply adore.

oh, what a great image!

Thanks! Coming from you, that means the world. My self-portrait attempts generally incline to blurry double images in shop window reflections, so it's nice to have pulled off something people respond to without resorting to me-obscuring tricks. I bought a cheapo miniature tripod yesterday, which made this pose possible.

This is a terrific picture. Although I actually check De File at least a couple times a day for new postings, it reminds me how much I have missed seeing you in person. It would nice to remedy that one of these days.

I was just thinking the same thing, Marc. I have been to fewer shows over the past year. When I go, I look for you and am sad you're not around. But I've been meaning to try to arrange something ahead of time.

Yes, indeed! And check out the beignets a few entries later. Louisville has much with which to entice.
