I Picked the Right One To Miss
Time to wait until next year, a process that will be made a lot easier if Mr. Anderson decides to delay his discovery that what works at this level might not be enough at the next.

This is a matrix allusion, isn't it? Either that OR it refers to P.T. Anderson's flick notwinning the oscar; shit, maybe it referst o both.....in any case, it's time for me to shut my comp down lest I get too distracted.

Ha! Writing that invites allegory has enormous potential to lead readers astray. I feel like the Pusher Man.

UA faces a similar sitiuation. Bayless is as ready for the jump as any freshman, but I cant stop from picturing what next year could be: the arrival of the number one recruit in the nation (making for a total of 3 2009 lottery picks), maturing talent from Wise, Hill, and others. This scenerio puts us in the pre-season top 5 no question. This year was a rough year for UA fans as I imagine it was for Cal fans, but a good year for the conference. Talk of 7 teams in the tourny!?

The Pac-10 can only get five teams in, in all likelihood: UCLA, Stanford and WSU -- all locks -- and USC, most likely, along with either Arizona or Arizona State. The Wildcats need to close out the season with wins, obviously. And ASU needs to do the same and win a game in the Pac-10 tournament. Of course, Washington is playing very well right now, so there's always the chance that something totally insane might happen.

I think Bayless should stay, personally. But his numbers would go down with Jennings on the floor, so it would be hard to make that case to him. Budinger, on the other hand, should absolutely stay, since his draft stock has slid. With a better team, he might look stronger.
