The Cal-USC game wasn't on here last night, leading me to forego my usual basketball date. And I'm so, so glad. Because if I had had to witness the coup de grace to a promising yet ultimately heart-breaking season, I might have smashed something. The Bears blew a double-digit lead at the Galen Center, which would have already been enough to make me tear my hair. But then they rallied in the closing minutes from a double-digit deficit to force overtime, only to lose in the extra period. At this point, all I can do is hope that Ryan Anderson realizes that he A) needs to work on his upper-body strength before braving the NBA and B) doesn't want to leave college with a bad taste in his mouth. Hell, if he stays, he might even convince Cal to keep Ben Braun for one more year, which I would still deem a good move, despite the pain which this season has inflicted upon me.
