OH HAI CHARLIE!

One of the most underrated remakes of all time. I love the scene with the rats.

Great to see you, BTW.

Spooky!

The truly spooky thing is that I actually put that stuff on my face. What can I say? I squeezed out too much and didn't want to waste it, seeing as how it's so expensive.

Remake of Nosferatu?
Bad accident with the flour-shaker?
Wolfman shaves face to fit in with local community?
Aaargh, I'm melting.....

I can think of stories that might suit, but none that I feel would actually fit. We await revelation, and so fill the void with our speculation: or at least I do, because I'm sad in that way.

When I return to a reasonable state of cognition I'll probably be embarrassed by my inquisitiveness. But that's tomorrow.

Kabuki? Oh Noh.

I had that coming. BTW, I find this new LJ icon of yours ever so fierce. It reminds me of some famous art historical image of God or Moses or Zeus. I can't place it exactly, but the pose and especially the eyes are straight from Art Through the Ages.

Straight out of Soviet Socialist Realism, which (deny it as they will) borrowed most of its tropes (can you use that for visual art?) from Romantic painting of the 18th C.

Oh, yes, trope is the word. I'm thinking there may also have been a Renaissance or Baroque antecedent.

look at Michaelangelo - although he did with restraint and subtletly what the victorians later did over-the-top.

Right. I'm thinking there's also a Titian that I can't quite conjure from the memory banks.
