I don't think it's a good sign that there's an Edie Brickell song playing over and over in my head right now.

You know, I think you should accept yourself for who you are... as the sage once said, "What I am is what I am. Are you what you are? Or What?" That's good advice for any situation, and I think it should be encapsulated with a little tune so that it's easy to remember and you can recall with ease.

I woke up with great anxiety today. Why? Because I had a dream where I needed to open my locker in High School. I didn't know the combination. So, I walked around all day trying to work out my high school locker combination (in my head). I would much rather have a Rick Astley song in my head, reminding me not to give up on my dreams. Sometimes giving up on your dreams means giving up on trying to get your math book out of your locker and get to third period Calculus on the sixth floor when you're all the way down on the first floor, and Mr. Mulcahey (what was that guy's name?) is the teacher that closes and locks the classroom door on test days right when the bell rings, and if you're not in class you FAIL.

Good point. Like I said in reply to another comment, I like the music well enough. It's just that I'd rather not be transported back to the late 1980s right now.

Tall and tan and young and lovely.

At dinner, we talked about banana tempura and someone asked if any one of us had a fryer. My brain decided to sing "If I Had A Fryer" to the tune of "If I Had A Hammer", which put the latter in my head. Helpfully, Jae said the words "Girl From Ipanema" to me, so I'll undoubtedly have that in my head for a week, no matter what else or how much else I listen to. There's no escaping it.

I quit. . .

Seriously, it's not that I dislike the music -- I'm usually happy to hear it -- but the fact that hearing it in my head signals a kind of regression. I need to not be where I was when that record came out.
