It's amazing how well players like Bruce Bowen, Brent Barry and -- a great acquisition -- Kurt Thomas complement the Big Three. They always seem to drift to the right spot for a 12 or 16-footer when Parker drives or Duncan is in the low post with the ball and his back to the basket.

I don't get the Pistons. Saunders isn't a very good coach is the best I can come up with, so I agree.

The Celtics look strong. And they're also a team, like the Spurs, with role players doing very well. Except that their role players are very young, with the exception of Cassell, who was also a great mid-season pick-up.

The Lakers look great too. Their bench is diverse and having Kobe guarantees clutch end-of-game performance. Also, like everyone else, I'm surprised at how much better Gasol is than he seemed in Memphis.

I never thought Gasol was just average. He's on the Spanish nat'l team and they are GOOD. I just think the Lakers finally got the right mix of players. Lamar Odom, well, I'd love to have him back in Miami but, we now have "The Matrix" who does similar things. Neither of them are super aggressive players but both can play a variety of positions and offense and defense. I just want to see the Spurs go down. ;-)

Why are you anti-Spurs? I know many people are. But their reasons vary. Personally, I like them better than the Lakers dynasty that preceded them by a long shot.

I guess my reason is just that even though the recent bad years of the Lakers, I'm really a Lakers fan. You know I lived in LA for 13 yrs and Calif. almost 20 yrs. As a team I think they're one of the better teams in the way they have kept at bay the ego tripping and drama that so many other teams have. I keep saying to myself that if I was playing would I take a big contract offered to me or take less money and go to a team that wants to succeed on the highest level. Remember when Joe Johnson went to Atlanta from Phx for a lot of money? But, maybe actually being in the game I would think differently about my career and legacy as a player. Of course, that would assume I have a legacy as a player. But, stats are kept on every single thing in sports so, it's possible.
