It's about time for a drink.

why is it that every building on that campus looks like every other building on that campus? Huh.

It's camouflage.

what do you suppose they're hiding?

Abject failure?

modern architecture=form over function; pretty/orderly on the outside and a mess within.......wow! I'm beginning to think that my school's architecture embodies the nature of its students (myself included).

Hmmm. You may be onto something, there.

It's amazing how difficult it is to take a photo like that--to get everything to line up just right, and not be crooked, or distorted by the camera lens. This is a good one. I like :-).

Well, the lens does distort somewhat. But I was pleased to get it as close to rectilinear as I could. And the curvature that is there actually enhances the effect I was after. Oh, and I'm glad you like it (and commented here).

i like that specific area. except i remember the benches being too far from the wall to comfortably lean against it.

I'm sure they were engineered for that level of insufficient comfort. I do like the way that space looks and feels, though.

That brings back some memories. I can't say that I liked the space -- oddly dark, usually dirty, overly loud -- but that doesn't stop me from having some fond memories. --jdm

It's totalitarian lite, I think. But it has an eerie charm when no one is around. At least, if you have a thing for fascist architecture, as I do.

It took me about ten seconds to recognize where this is, even though I spent seven years walking past it every other day. I think it's something about the framing of the picture, and the fact that I've so rarely seen that space empty.
cbertsch From: cbertsch Date: July 2nd, 2008 03:23 am (UTC) (LINK TO SPECIFIC ENTRY)
It was strangely empty. Summer is always spare, but yesterday it was like there had been an evacuation. Then again, I'm thinking along those lines anyway.

I am reminded of Goatse, somehow.

So familiar...
Did you take this from the landing or the steps??
It puts in my mind this very natural rising sensation...

From the steps, part of the way up to the landing. It makes me think of sci-fi films, somehow.

That photograph made my blood pressure rise. No joke.

Say what you will about the space -- it's cool as a rat's nest no matter the weather.
