It gives me the creeps, too. But the ants make a compelling pattern, so I have to keep looking. Plus, it's weird how the concrete seems to have picked up the fur from the rodent.

In Arizona, dusty death disappears with alarming speed.

Those ants love fingernails.

Also... ewwww!

They love everything. It's like a regular hippie commune, there's so much love.

Couldn't help but smile at the "pets" tag.

Thing Two keeps presenting us with gifts. But he's not going to be an indoor cat, even if he starts depositing gazelles on the patio.

The cat connection wasn't immediately obvious to me, though; I thought it terribly noble of you to count the dead mouse and swarming ants as 'pets'. :)

::laughing::

Well, that's what I wanted to wryly insinuate. The idea of pet fratricide was in my head.

Every time I look at, I feel like I've been given an electric shock. But I'm exhausted, so it's helpful.

I'm up in Tempe TU-TH now. Maybe we can get together sometime in the evening or even for a show. Modified can be fun.

rain check?

Damn. I really would like to hang out with you, but this is the worst possible week for me. I start my move on Friday, and I'm still packing and cleaning.

You absolutely must let me know the next time you're going to be up here.

Re: rain check?

I meant, all fall. I'm teaching at ASU on TU-TH. So we have time.

Re: rain check?

Oh good! Then let's definitely hang out sometime soon. Things will probably slow down for me in a couple of weeks. Shoot me an email if you'd like to do something.

I had no idea you were going to be teaching at ASU. That's quite a commute!

Re: rain check?

Yes. It's not ideal, especially with these gas prices. But I'm hoping to parlay my effort into something better (and more manageable).

OMG what an excellent photo.

Thanks! That means so much coming from you. I like the way that some of the hair that came off the rodent in the course of its being skinned covers the concrete, especially in the lower right corner, as if it were a texturing effect that had exceeded the intended boundaries.
