body language

i recently met a friend who i hadn't seen in over 20 years. we had quite a painful discussion about the horrors of 80's feminism. it was a heartbreaking conversation, and one which could only be had in the flesh, i think.

and, what do you mean by "could-become-work-if-everything-breaks-right"?

Re: body language

In the flesh is good. Better than I could have imagined, back when I was wishing that my own would melt.

I just meant that a lot of the conversations among the people I was hanging out with are the sort in which, whatever the ostensible topic, there's always the shadow of possible employment cast from somewhere overhead.

Re: body language

yes, i did think you meant that but couldn't be sure. no body language, see?

i know what you mean, and not just employment but also just creative projects and general can-do-ness.

Re: body language

I'm not averse to the possibility of "free" exchange being instrumentalized in that way. It's just that I spend most of my days in contexts where that sort of conversation is less frequent.
