A Fine Ending
The last two innings of tonight's Red Sox-Angels game was post-season baseball at its finest. Jason Varitek may be struggling at the plate and had a passed ball that allowed a run to score, but his hustling put-out on a botched suicide squeeze to end the top of the ninth was super. The outcome pleased me, too. I'm not really a Red Sox fan -- sorry, letter_2elise -- but I still have a score to settle with the Angels after the horrible conclusion to the 2002 season. Plus, even though I'm pulling for the Phillies, I would settle for Manny being Manny against his former teammates. That would be quite a soap opera.

baseball

I'm pulling for the Devil Rays, although it makes me sick that they could win a title before the Mariners. God, the Mariners.

Re: baseball

They're a good story, the Devil Rays, but my aversion to all things Floridian and my resentment over new franchises beating older ones to the World Series title -- see the San Francisco Giants -- makes it impossible for me to get very enthusiastic about them.

Re: baseball

Thank you! I thought I was the only one. I can't root for franchises that should never have existed because they play in markets that don't support them. Screw the (Devil) Rays.

I'm glad you're aboard the Phils bandwagon. There's plenty of room!

:)

I'm beyond jet-lagged at the moment and trying to catch-up with everything. I haven't even checked the DVR to see if all the games recorded. It was hard to miss them, but I was (mentally) a world away.

Kauai is great for forgetting the day-to-day. If it made me forget to check ALDS scores, anything is possible.

I have dear friends who are Dodger and Phillies fans, so the next month should be great!!! As banged-up as we are (and without my beloved Lowell), it is amazing we made it this far.

I love baseball. When the season ends, I'll go a little crazy.
