Wow, Bean is ten? Goodness.

The stupid synthetic chatter on facebook annoys me so, I hardly ever look at my page there. I have, however, been found there by several old friends.

Twitter just seems pesky. Posting one's tweets to LJ is particularly bizarre.

I like rediscovering old friends and even folks I pretend to be friendly with now, even though I wasn't friends with them way back when. And Facebook is good for that. It just lacks the sense of a close-knit community that Live Journal at least used to have.

As far as Twitter goes, I'm trying to do something interesting with it. But I find myself getting sucked into a commenting vortex, where replies lack substance to such a degree that they function like ciphers for real responses that will never be made.

Still, as someone who studies social networking, I feel obliged to participate. Especially now that Live Journal seems to be dwindling in the States.
