I love this post. I can't think of anyone aside from Bill Simmons who could have (& would have) written such a detailed treatise on rooting habits.

All of my rooting interests these days (except for Florida State) are based on how I feel about the coach/players of a given program. For instance, I always root against Bob Huggins & (in the women's game) Geno Auriemma. Never liked either guy, always root against them. Now that I consider it, I can't really think of any coach I always root for - probably most of them have retired now. & then there are the local boys - Southern Miss, Ole Miss, & Mississippi State - of the three for some unknown reason I prefer State. I rooted for Texas a lot until I figured out that Rick Barnes has some kind of bizarre fascination with under-sized, out of control "point guards." I've never enjoyed out-of-control players...

In this year's tourney, for mostly unknown reasons, I am backing FSU (obviously), Kansas (I think because they're Bill James's team), & Oklahoma State (my Mom & my uncle love that school). If a #1 seed wins, I want it to be Pitt. No idea why - I've just always liked Pitt. I'd prefer UNC not win (I'm tired of them, plus they tend to coast on defense for stretches & I find Hansborough annoying). I like Roy Williams but wish he had stayed at Kansas.

I could go on & on... anyway.

Fun post-! Thanks!
