Fifteen Minutes Old

After much searching for a flash drive -- why is it that there always seem to be three laying about until I need one? -- I finally found one I hadn't used in several years. Rather randomly, it contained a copy of this photograph, which I took of Skylar when she was only fifteen minutes old.

I know that babies that young aren't supposed to be able to see much of anything, but it sure felt at the time -- and sure looks now -- like she was giving me that fierce stare that she displays, sometimes seriously and sometimes in jest, to this very day. It's funny. People often talk about how "inhuman" newborns seem. For me, though, she was very much a distinct personality even before her debut. And she most definitely had remarkable presence in her first months out in the world.
