Does Collecting Make You Feel Dirty?
Limns With Orange
Orange is my mother's favorite color. She tried to keep the front bathroom the way she likes it.

Were you hiding the camera on the section of your body that wasn't reflected in the mirrors?

(Just kidding. It was on the towel rack, right?)

Good shot.

Yes, it was on the towel rack, though I was holding onto the camera as well.

Glad you liked it. I was trying to capture the feel of that bathroom, into which my mother put a lot of time.

Thank you! It has a great deal of meaning for me, as this is the bathroom my mother laboriously remade in the 1980s and which has barely changed -- even the shower curtain dates from back then -- since. Orange is her favorite color.

i am fond of orange, myself. particularly when matched with a moody north sea blue/grey/green and a bit of white.

I think my mother would agree with you about the sea blue-green. Her other favorite color is Naples Yellow, which doesn't really go well with orange most of the time, but does factor into the color scheme of this bathroom.

I love what you do with mirrors, reflections, and strange light. I like that shirt too. ;-)

It pleases me so much to hear from you. I think a lot about your comments when I'm composing this kind of shot. Sometimes I opt not to depress the shutter button, because I worry that I'm sinking into a personal cliché. But on other occasions, like this one, the aptness of the setting is sufficient to inspire me to take the picture.

Also, I'm glad you like that shirt. I do too. My daughter and her mother were giving me grief about it a while back, but I think it's good-looking. Plus, it has that thick waffle-knit construction that gives the shirt just the right balance.
