From June until September, they tend to be out at night, though our king snake was out during the day not that long ago. I see them when I'm riding my bike around midnight.

Remember, if you do see one, to look for the tail. Not all rattlesnakes have visible rattles. But the black-and-white stripes at the end of the tail are a dead giveaway, as the tail of this gopher snake indicates.
