Fireflies in the Cherry Orchard

It's not much of an orchard now, except in the Chekovian sense, but this IS where the most viable remaining sour cherry trees stand in the backyard of my parents' Maryland home. I walked outside in the middle of the night to take in those wonderful East Coast night sounds, not expecting the fireflies to be out at that hour, since they are mostly visible around dusk, but there, clustered under the tree, in the most dew-soaked portions of the grass, a bunch of them were flitting about
