Petals on a Wet Black Bough

One of the best things about the cliffside campsites at South Carlsbad State Beach in northern San Diego County, where we camp each year, is that the view makes it easy to spot various sea creatures. I'm posting this, even though it was less than a week ago that I posted another ocean shot from that location, because my LJ friend Quuf's comment on that earlier entry got me thinking about what kind of images please me, specifically those that show what appears to be a mostly uniform field at first glance, but later reveals interesting variations in the details upon closer inspection
